Among January’s top 10 auto brands in sales volume, SAIC Volkswagen wins champion again, second by FAW Volkswagen and SAIC GM. Dongfeng Nissan keeps ranking 7th, while Beijing Hyundai fell to 9th with a sales number of 80,017 units. By contrast, self-independent brands Changan and Geely all have rising rankings, in which Changan Auto rises to 5th and ranks first among self-independent brands.
The wholesale sales volume for passenger vehicles in Chinese auto market reaches 2,169,804 units in January, decreasing 16.7% with the 2,603,288 units in December. Car, MPV and SUV markets all face decreasing sales volumes of at least 10%. The decrease in MPV market reaches 24.7%. Only SUV market faces a 9.8% growth, compared with the same period of last year.
Retail sales volume for passenger vehicles in Chinese auto market reaches 2,074,732 units in January, decreasing 23.5% with the 2,711,209 units in December and 9.3% with the same period of last year. Car, MPV and SUV markets all face declines, compared with last month and the same month of last year. Declines in MPV market are larger than 20% for both month-on-month and year-on-year ratio. Sales in SUV market declines 19% with last month and increases 6.9% on a year-on-year base.
CPCA points out in relevant report that the earlier Spring Festival and exit of halving purchasing tax policy result in the expected retail sales volume.
