China blows SUV wind

Chinese SUV market still keeps hot in 2015 which verifying the trend of saloon car to SUV to MPV.

In 2010, the production and sales of Chinese auto had renewed the record in the history but the contribution of SUV was limited. After 5 years, Chinese SUV market still keeps hot in 2015 which verifying the trend of saloon car to SUV to MPV. There are 3 major trends summarized from top 10 SUV manufacturers from 2010 to 2014.

First trend is the rise of self-owned brands in SUV market. The annual sales volume of Haval H6 which is 316,000 could rank top 3 even in saloon car market. The 3 models in 2014 SUV top 10 are same with the ones in 2010 but the sales volumes and prices are obviously higher than the data in 2010. In regard to brand image, strong self-owned brands SUV are almost the same with joint venture brands SUV. Due to better profit than saloon car, self-owned brand manufacturers should increase the input for SUV.

Second trend is the market elimination is on the way. Besides top 10 SUV manufacturers, some auto enterprises which lack of core competitiveness seems being operated well due to hot sales of SUV. But the fact is second class self-owned brands are more and more difficult to be brought into main market unless there are upgrades of products, technologies and brands etc.

The last trend is the bloom of different brands. In the top 10 list of Chinese SUV in the year 2014, there are 9 manufacturers and 10 brands more than both 7 in 2010, which makes SUV market bloom.
