Tokyo Commodity Exchange to expand trading hours

The Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) said it will expand trading hours from next Tuesday when its starts using a new trading system.

Beginning on Sept. 20, the day session will kick off from 8:45 a.m. (2345 GMT), 15 minutes earlier than the current 9 a.m. (0000 GMT) opening. There will be no change at the end of the day, when the session finishes at 3:15 p.m. (0615 GMT).

The start of the night session will be unchanged at 4:30 p.m. (0730 GMT), but the session's close, with the exception of rubber, will be extended by 90 minutes to 5:30 a.m. the following day (2030 GMT).

The end of the night session for rubber will be unchanged at 7 p.m. (1000 GMT).

TOCOM, which is using a new trading system developed by Osaka Exchange Inc., will be closed on Monday for the Respect for the Aged Day holiday.TOCOM trades commodities such as rubber, gold, platinum, crude oil, kerosene, corn, red bean, silver, palladium, gasoline, gas oil and soybean.
