China may file WTO complaint over U.S. duties on Chinese tires

China’s commerce ministry is planning to lodge a complaint at the World Trade Organization overU.S.'s anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation on Chinese tires, said Xu Wenying, General Secretary of China Rubber Industry Association on China Rubber Conference 2015, which was held on April9 inGuangzhou.

China's government concerns aboutU.S.'s anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation on Chinese tires very much, even paid more attention thanChinaand theU.S.safeguard action happened years ago, Xu told the journalist from Tireworld.

US President Obama in Sept. 2009 order raised tariffs for three years on the imports of Chinese tyres-by 35 percent in the first year, 30 percent in the second and 25 percent in the third. This time, U.S. Commerce department levies up to 100.2 percent of tariff on Chinese tyres, which has effected onChina's over 200 companies, involving in 3.37 billion dollars and 1 million industry workers's jobs in the case, which arises Chinese government's concern andChina's commerce ministry has expressed strongly against the investigation.

China's government will file WTO because ofU.S.political discrimination on all the Chinese companies. IfU.S.anti-investigation and anti-subsidy tariff finally issues, other countries will follow bad examples, Xu worries.
