A few years ago, the giant engineering tires used in the transportation of mining industry were imported from other countries. Only Michelin, Bridgestone and Goodyear are capable of producing such tires.
Fujian Haian Rubber Co., Ltd. is the fourth producer with such capacity in the world.
The company was established in Dec. 2015 in Fujian province, with a registered capital of 100 million yuan.
The company cooperated with Beijing Research & Design Institute of Rubber Industry and Beijing University of Chemical Technology and worked out China’s first molding machine to produce giant tire.
On Jun. 30, 2008, Haian Rubber finally produced the first giant engineering tire - 37.00R57.
Hai’an Rubber’s technology is immature while producing the first giant tire, and its service life was only a dozen of hours, but the regular service life of giant tires is 4,000 hours, said Huang Zhenhua, deputy general manager of Hai’an Rubber.
Therefore, the R&D team improved the overall plan of the program and made breakthroughs in a number of sectors, and increase the tire’s service life to over 1,000 hours.
After that, the company purchased advanced test apparatus and equipment and extended the service life of its giant tires from 1,000 hours to over 4,000 hours.
In early 2012, giant tires entered mass production in Hai’an Rubber’s plant.
