The Tire and Rubber Association of Canada hosted a joint meeting with tire experts from China and the USA.
In their July 2014 newsletter, the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC) reported on a meeting the organization hosted in order to discuss challenges and opportunities within the OTR tire market.
The report, penned by TRAC President, Glenn Maidment, says, “TRAC hosted nine delegates from the Chinese tire standards body, SAC/TC 19, along with seven North American OTR Tire experts for two days of meetings in Toronto July 29-30th.
The meeting covered a wide array of industry topics, most notably a comprehensive discussion on test protocols for TKPH (Tonnes Kilometre Per Hour). The Chinese delegation presented their test method and invited the North American experts to offer a critique.”
The two-day meeting resulted in an agreement to support the creation of an ISO Working Group to examine the test method in more details so that is could be brought to the full ISO Sub-Committee on OTR Tires, and then hopefully move to the next phase where it could be approved as an International Standard.
