Zhang Shiliang, head of the National Government Offices Administration’s department of new energy vehicles, confirmed that several national agencies, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Government Offices Administration, have taken steps to expand timed rental services for new energy vehicles for its units, Shijiazhuang Daily reported today. Furthermore, the government bodies took steps to expand the usage of the service among its units.
Mr. Zhang explained that the government is taking these steps in order to help reduce emissions and protect the environment. Mr. Zhang added that government has taken these measures to lead reform in the Chinese automotive industry.
According to data provided by the relevent organizations in the State Council for the year 2014, various government departments are on their way to fulfill their new energy vehicle targets as proscribed by the most recent Five-Year Guideline. However, there is still a large amount of work to be done to reach the new energy vehicle targets by the end of this year.
According to Mr. Zhang, relevent work for 20 departments have already entered the teamwork phase, with several departments having also begun constructing monitoring systems.
