Chinese alternative-energy vehicles reported sales of 71,102 units in the first half year, surging two-fold form 29,575 units of a year earlier while Chinese vehicle production and sales both experienced drops for the first time since 2008, according to China Association of Automotive Manufactures.
As a model with the fastest growth rate, the plug-in hybrid vehicles sales exceeded 20,000 units in the first half of the year to 20,884 units, jumping 280% compared with 5,495 units of the year earlier. And the first half of the year of this model outpaced that of the whole year sales of last year of 17,489 units.
In addition, the pure EV kept a high speed of growth, selling 29,743 units. Compare with 12,222 units of last year, the pure EV sales skyrocketed 143%.
It was three-fold that the production of the alternative-energy vehicles increased both for June and for the first half year on a year-on-year basis.
For the first half of the year, the production of the alternative-energy vehicles jumped three-fold to 78,500 units. Its production in June surged three-fold from a year earlier to 25,000 units, with pure EV’s production jumping two-fold to 10,500 units and plug-in hybrid vehicles surging seven-fold to 6,663 units.
