Chery-controlled brand Cowin, which means "join hands to win", launched the first crowd-sourced vehicle building platform in China named “Cowin You Let’s Car”, which will produce the first vehicle in 2017.
Cowin Auto was established in January, 2014, and is invested by Chery Holding Co. The company has conceived the strategy of building intelligent and connected vehicles since its existence. The establishment of the crowd-sourced vehicle platform is the first step of realizing the strategy.
According to the announcement of Cowin Auto, the crowd-sourced vehicle platform is an innovative platform with no intermediary, where the wisdom of the crow can be consolidated. In this platform, any general man whoever is interested in vehicle building can take part in the project.
The crowd-sourced platform is not a general website or a forum established by automakers but more like a game platform for vehicle-addicts, where a large group of people of all walks of life interchange information on the basis of professional training.
As it is slated in the scheme of Cowin Auto that the company will have launched a compact car, two SUV models, a Crossovers and a MPV in five years, when company’s overall production and sales volume will become 300,000 units. The mass production will be accomplished with the help of original equipment manufacturers as the company plans to invest most of its fund into technology research.
To put it simple, the crowd-sourcing project offering a platform on the Internet for the mass to form car design plans and vote for the best plan to put into production in 2017. In order to encourage the participation of the crowd, the company invited a well-known host Hua Shao to be the image ambassador and a partner for the project.
