Recently, China has set an export tire quality and technology promotion committee in Dongying, east China’s Shandong Province, in a bid to promote the sustainable and healthy development of the tire industry.
It is learned that the committee will play significant roles in the following areas including:
lOptimizing and integrating policy, capital and technical resources and impellingcompanies to actively take part in the formulation and revision of domestic and international standards, by drawing upon the strengths of the National Export Tire Quality Safety Demonstration Zone;
lStepping up the collection, research and assessment of tire standards of major trade partners so as to mitigate the impact of technical trade measures against Chinese tire exporters;
lIntroducing a law enforcement mechanism integrating the efforts of ports and inland authorities to crack down fake and substandard export products and safeguard the brand reputation of Chinese export tires;
lLeading and supporting tire companies to upgrade technologies and innovate products by drawing upon its advantages in measurement, standards, accreditation, inspection and tests so as to improve the overall quality level of China’s tire industry and help the industry to transform from Made-in-China to Created-in-China, from Chinese products to Chinese brands, and from Chinese speed to Chinese quality.
China has become the world’s largest tire producer and exporter. However, the industry is still faced with the problems such as inferior quality, low technical level, lack of brand recognition, less participation in international standards and overcapacity in mid- and low-end products.
