China’s auto sellers are back in the race after a brief spell off-road in February.
Data released today by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers indicated vehicle sales reached 2.44 million units in March, up 8.8 per cent from the same month a year ago.
The boost brought monthly sales to their highest level for the year to date, bettering January’s annualised growth of 7.7 per cent and landing a welcome recovery after February’s reading came in at -0.9 per cent. The latest sales figures brought sales for the first quarter of 2016 to 6.52 million units, an increase of 6 per cent from Q1 2015.
The quarter also saw continued rapid growth for SUV sales, which were up 51.5 per cent year on year for the period.
