DPCA releases “5A+” plan; transferring to travel service provider meets difficulties

DPCA released a new round of five-year middle-term business plan “5A”, a typical miniature of “industry-Internet” model, in which “transformation and upgrading” replacing “capacity, target sales” as the new key words.

Based on market judgment, DPCA’s management drew up the “5A” plan, which can be concluded as the following aspects: quality level ranking top 3 in 2018 and top 1 in 2020; sales revenue exceeding 100b Yuan in 2020; efficiency enhancing 30% in 2020 and pursuing sustainable development. It’s learned that DPCA will launch 34 new models and 5 models of alternative energy vehicles in the future five years, upgrading all current products. Every brand will input 1-2 new models every year. Cars and SUV products will be consolidated and MPV market will be entered. New potential market such as light commercial vehicles will be researched to form a complete product chain. Individualized products will be provided and exports to ASEAN will be increased.

Apart from changes from sales volume to quality, size and performance, DPCA also transfers itself from a traditional auto company to a comprehensive travel service provider.

Reporters learn that data will be DPCA’s key asset. DPCA will build main data platform to achieve big data communication with customers. Besides, DPCA will provide individualized customized service and transparent delivery experience, exploring new business models in finance, second-hand cars and self-built spare parts e-commerce platform. It will also deepen cooperation with renting companies, Internet companies and achieve renting sales volume of more than 100,000 units in 2020, with alternative energy vehicles accounting for more than 5%.

In fact, some experts said the transformation is quite difficult for a traditional auto company. On one hand, many Internet light-asset companies have entered into the market of providing travel services. On the other hand, customers have diversified demands in choosing transportation.
