Commanded by the General Administration of Customs, customs in Shenzhen, Huangpu, Kunming, and Nanjing cities jointly hauled in their dragnet on Aug. 10 and destroyed a huge criminal network for tire smuggling, which involves products valued at some 300 million yuan.
In this action, the four customs discovered five criminal groups involving in product supply, customs clearance, logistics and transport, and scores of suspects were arrested.
The planner for the tire smuggling criminals is from Hong Kong, the suspects transported foreign tires from Hong Kong to Vietnam, they smuggled the tires to the Chinese mainland through Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Yunan province, then transported the tires to Dongguan, Guangdong province, for distribution.
In addition, the suspects replaced the tires of cars with Hong Kong and Shenzhen’s licenses with foreign tires in Hong Kong, drove the cars to Shenzhen, replaced the foreign tires with old tires and drive the cars to Hong Kong, over and over again.
They did so several times a day between Hong Kong and Shenzhen to smuggle tires.
The smuggling groups also retreaded old tires and sold them, which generated threats to transportation security.
