J. D. Power released on Aug. 15 the 2016 China Satisfactory Report for New Car Tires.
Goodyear ranked the first in the luxury passenger car and the SUV segments for the third consecutive years; and Nexen ranked the first in the mainstream passenger car segment for the second consecutive year.
In addition, MAXXIS ranked the first in the MPV/micro-truck segment for the third straight year.
The report was based on the feedbacks of 16,010 car owners on their newly purchased cars bought between Oct. 2012 and May 2015. The survey covered 37 tire brands.
According to the report, a majority of car owners knew little about the original tires of their new cars, which significantly affected their satisfaction and loyalty to tire brands.
More than a half of the new car owners had no idea about the brands of the original tires. Only 1% of the car owners “knew exactly” about the more professional specification information and 9% of them “knew pretty much” about it.
Cai Ming, general manager of the auto product and quality, J.D. Power, said tires are the most frequently changed auto parts, producers should figure out more effective and proactive brand strategies to improve their visibility and brand image among car owners.
In this way, when car owners want to change the tires, they will come up with a preferred brand. When tire producers build up their brand loyalty, they will be able to fight against low-price counterparts effectively.
