The export value of tires from Dongying, Shandong province, kept rapid growth.
In the first two months of this year, Dongying exported tires of 2.09 billion yuan, up 8.2% year on year.
Tire export accounted for 48.1% of the city’s overall export value.
As of end-Feb., there were 339 exporters in the city.
Shandong Xingyuan International Trade Co., Ltd. and Shandong Hengfeng Tire Co., Ltd. were the top two tire exporters in Dongying, with export values of 310 million yuan and 233 million yuan, respectively.
In Jan.-Feb., Dongying imported natural rubber of 375 million yuan, up 204.3% year; and its import of synthetic rubber valued 193 million yuan, up 52.3%.
Dongying is a major tire exporter in China.
Chinese tire producers won the U.S. anti-dumping and anti-subsidy appeal against truck and bus tires from China in late Feb.
Nearly one half of the tires exported by China are from Shandong, while the U.S. is the largest export destination of tires from Shandong. The tire export to the U.S. once stood at about 30% of Shandong’s total tire export.
By winning the appeal, local tire producers were well prepared for receiving orders from the U.S., and tire export from Dongying is expected to grow rapidly since March.
