Inaugural meeting for innovation union of Chinese auto industry’s intelligent network was held in Beijing on June 12th, 2017, with 98 initial members.
Under the operation guidance of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the union sets up guiding committee, expert committee and council. Miao Wei, minister of MIIT, is appointed as the director of guiding committee. The members involve nine Vice Chairman units, including FAW, Changan, CATARC, CAERI, Tsing Hua University, CATR, Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport, Wuxi Department of Public Security Ministry and Baidu, as well as 32 director members such as SAIC, Dongfeng, Huawei, ZTE and AMAP.
Intelligent network vehicles are the commanding point for the future Chinese auto industry, and it’s also an important breakthrough for the upgrades and transformation of national auto industry.
Previously, MIIT has released a series of documents on middle-and-long-term development plans, intelligent network technology routine, Internet cars and 5G action plans, to initially set up 5G frequency plan and testing frequency range, as well as construct demonstration zones.
Recently, MIIT is accelerating the pace of studying guidance on promoting the industry’s developments, and will focus on stipulating standards, R&D on key technologies, upgrades on fundamentals, strengthening international communication and lifting information safety in the next period. Miao Wei emphasizes that intelligent cars are systematic project requiring cooperation from all parties.
