China will encourage stable increase in the consumption of automobiles and home appliances, remove restrictions on the circulation of used vehicles, increase the number of parking lots, charging piles and battery swapping stations and accelerate the building of power battery recycling system, Premier Li Keqiang said on Friday when he was delivering the government's work report.
Besides, the country will deepen reforms in many key segments to further energize market entities. Premier Li Keqiang said that China will carry out reform in industrial product entry system and promote the whole-process reform in the production entry and circulation management of such industries as automotive and electronics.
Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), said that the reform of entry system in auto industry will allow more and more companies to become players in auto industry, which will facilitate the technology development in electrification and connected vehicles. He expects vehicle consumption will see steady growth in 2021 and the passenger vehicle segment will enter into stable development phase.
Currently, many automakers have made deployment in battery swapping. Geely Technology Group has built an open battery swapping ecosystem and signed up for over 1,000 battery swapping stations. The EV startup NIO haS launched 191 battery swapping stations in 76 cities, and aims to increase the total number to at least 500 by 2021.
