China imported 192,296 tons of natural rubber in March, year-on-year down 9.9%. But its total import yearly rose by 2.4% to 480,000 tons in the first quarter of 2012, according to statistics from China’s General Administration of Customs.
Statistics also showed that import value of natural rubber jumped 26.4% to 1.6 billion dollars in the first quarter of 2012. Amongst, import value in March reached 670 million dollars, taking 42% of the first three months’ total.
As the largest natural rubber importer, China mainly imports natural rubber from Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
