Talking to Tyrepress about its latest expansion project, Maxxis chairman Tsai-Jen Lo has visited the chief minister of the Indian state of Gujarat in order to finalise plans for Maxxis’ first plant in India. The latest plant, joining ten other Maxxis plants located throughout Asia, is due to be ready for operation in early 2017. Maxxis, also known as Cheng Shin Rubber Industry in much of the world, is expected to spend around US$400 million on the project.
The plant will initially manufacture motorcycle tyres and tubes for companies including Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki, and is projected to produce around 20,000 units per day at capacity. Occupying 106 acres, the facility will be located in the Sanand Industrial Estate near Ahmedabad and will eventually employ close to 2,000 people.
Maxxis stated that it looks forward to the completion of this project, issuing its thanks to chief minister Anandiben Patel and everyone involved for their efforts in bringing the company’s new factory to Gujarat.
