Though BYD missed the sales target in 2015, the automaker made itself the top sales in China and all over the world in alternative energy vehicles, remaining to be the strategic core throughout the year of 2016.
BYD failed to reach the goal that the automaker sold 2 million vehicles topping other China’s domestic automakers in 2015, since its first eleven months sales last year were 388,300 units, a slight year-on-year growth of 0.87%.
However, maintaining right focus on alternative energy vehicles, the enterprise sold 50,700 alternative energy vehicles in the first eleven months in 2015, 1.31 times more than that of previous year, propelling the company into the top sales position in China and all over the world.
After making an all-time high sales record of 517,100 units in 2010, the automaker set ambitious target of topping the China’s auto market by 2015 and then leading the international market by 2025. But in the following years its sales never hit the record again, 437,000 units in 2011, 420,000 units in 2012, 506,000 units in 2013 and 370,000 units in 2014.
However, the automaker maintained focus on alternative energy vehicles, offering Qin, SUV Tang, and Song models, leading to top-sales automaker of alternative energy worldwide.
