GITI Tire (USA) Ltd. is supporting an effort to raise money for Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT), a non-profit devoted to stopping human trafficking by educating, mobilizing and empowering the nation's truck drivers and rest stop employees.
The fund-raising effort, known as "Everyday Heroes," is being spearheaded by Inland Kenworth, a commercial vehicle dealership in Tolleson, Ariz., which has donated a customized Kenworth T680 truck to be auctioned.
Inland Kenworth's initiative is being supported by Kenworth producer PACCAR Co. and Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. GITI Tire donated the tires — GT Radial GSL213FS steer tires and GDL651FS drive tires. The truck — which features an "eye-catching" paint scheme that includes the TAT logo — will be auctioned off at a Ritchie Bros. auction in Phoenix on June 20 after it has made several public relations appearances around the country. All proceeds of the sale will go to TAT; the truck has a retail value of $157,000.
According to TAT, human trafficking is an estimated $32 billion industry in the U.S. alone and $150 billion globally. The organization has trained and educated nearly 300,000 truck drivers and truck stop operators on how they can help fight this problem.
