Birla Carbon announced Sept. 8 that the new carbon black factory invested by it was officially established in Jining, Shandong province, with annual capacity of 120,000 tons.
It is the largest joint production program of Birla Carbon in China.
Birla Carbon has another two Chinese factories Weifang, Shandong province, and Dashiqiao, Liaoning province.
The factory is constructed in two phases. When the second phase construction is completed, the annual capacity will reach 240,000 tons.
The new factory introduces in technology of Birla Carbon’s U.S. subsidiary to produce ASTM and special carbon black.
ASTM carbon black is widely used by the tire industry, while special carbon black is used to produce industrial rubber products and others.
According to Birla Carbon Black, the operation of Jining factory will satisfy increasing demand of regional tire producers.
