On June 27, China Mobile, a China's stated-owned telecommunication corporation, announced at the MWC 2018 (Mobile World Congress) the establishment of a new IoV company, named China Mobile Intelligent Mobility Network Technology Co.,Ltd, which will work as China Mobile's mainstay and major operator in the transportation domain.
Reportedly, the new IoV company integrates the resources from China Mobile Communications Corporation Government and Enterprise Service Company and Virtue Intelligent Network, a ICV-focused joint venture between Deutsche Telekom and China Mobile. By using and developing 5G technology, the new company will extend businesses in such areas as smart highway, autonomous driving as well as Internet of Air.
At the same time, the newly-built company unveiled its intelligent mobility operational platform, dubbed OSCAR, which is designed to offer IoV operational services. Based on the core capabilities of TSP (trusted sign-on provider), the OSCAR is dedicated to improving the driving experience for terminal users by integrating China Mobile's resources of technologies and services and taking advantage of the fully open cooperation.
On June 14, China Mobile and Chinese Internet giant Baidu struck a strategic agreement to jointly explore potential development in several nascent fields, such as AI, 5G and autonomous vehicles. On the basis of the previous cooperation, the newborn IoV company and Baidu AI Platform signed a MoU at the MWC 2018 to supply better map services and elevated experience over AI services.
