Shandong Lingong Tire Co. Ltd. and Chinese car maker FAW Group Co. have signed a technical cooperation framework agreement to co-develop products in the future.
The agreement involves "deeper cooperation" in product design and development, quality assurance, cost optimization, manufacturing and social responsibility, Linglong said in a news release.
The two sides already have been working together for two decades, with Linglong supplying tires as original equipment fitments for many FAW models.
The new agreement, according to Linglong, will be a "major breakthrough," where the two companies will conduct long-term work on developing new tires. The two sides also have agreed on "resource sharing and talent cultivation."
Headquartered in Changchun, China, FAW is one of the "big four" Chinese car makers, producing brands such as Jilin, Besturn and Dario. It has joint venture agreements with global car makers such as Audi, General Motors, Toyota and Volkswagen where it manufactures those brands for the Chinese market.
