Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic has confirmed that the Chinese tyre manufacturer, Linglong will start building a factory in Zrenjanin in February this year.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced this during his appearance on the TV station Pink, answering a viewer’s question. He said that the foundation stone for the construction of the Chinese tire factory Linglong would be laid down in Zrenjanin in February.“Linglong will be the biggest foreign investor in Zrenjanin after Draexlmaier, and their investment is 30 times bigger than Draexlmaier’s”, Vucic said and added that Serbia had fought hard for this investment to be made.
The Chinese company plans to produce 10 million high-performance radial tyres for passenger vehicles, 2 million for cargo vehicles and 10,000 tyres for off-road vehicles in the new plant.
The construction of the factory will be carried out in three stages, with the final one to be completed in March 2025. Shandong Linglong has decided to build the factory in Serbia due to lower costs of the investment, construction, workforce and energy compared to other countries in Europe.
He also announced that Zrenjanin would get clean drinking water after several decades. According to him, better days are coming for other places in Banat County including Zitiste, Milosevo and Secanj.
